Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill who was arrested earlier this month for sedition has been 'faking' being abused while under arrest and said that 'no abuse has taken place'.
Rana Sanaullah gave this statement to Geo News in a telephonic conversation that took place on Friday. He said "No abuse of any kind occurred. Shahbaz Gill is just faking it. He was not tortured."
Gill was arrested on August 9 for inciting violence against state institutions. Following the arrest, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that Gill was picked up by unidentified personnel in cars with missing number plates.
PTI chairperson Imran Khan has claimed that Gill was tortured in police custody, claiming instances of 'physical, mental and sexual abuse' had taken place.
He said that Imran Khan was just 'lying as always', and challenged him to file an FIR against 'the ones involved', if he really believed a crime had been committed.
Sanaullah said that action would be taken against PTI leaders if they attempted to break into the Red Zone or Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) —where Gill is currently being treated— in protest.
The interior Ministers alleged that this 'false propaganda' was being peddled by Imran Khan because he knew the verdict of the funding case was about to come out.
