Army, Govt Have Stopped Imran's Terrorist Appeasement Policy: Bilawal
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto has said that the civil and military leadership of the country has finally put a stop to the previous government's policy of appeasing terrorists.

"Unfortunately, following the fall of Kabul and the decision of the government that preceded ours, to start negotiating with the same terrorist groups without pre-conditions of disarming, de-radicalisation, and respect for the Constitution, what we call a policy of appeasement, has blown up in our face," he said during an interview with the CNBC Middle East.

So, on one side, he added, we have the consequences of the withdrawal from Afghanistan that has given various groups over there a lot more space to function, he added.

The PPP chief further told the interviewer that Pakistan has a very porous border that it does not have the capacity to man extensively, adding, "We have these sort of groups within our country."

Bilawal said that the good news is that the new unity government is clear and the new military leadership is clear. "We have had national security meetings in our country and we have put a full stop to the policy of appeasement."

Late last month, at least 95 people embraced martyrdom, while more than 200 people were injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque situated near Peshawar’s Police Lines area. According to reports, the attacker was present in the front row of the mosque during Zuhr prayers. In a more recent development, two terrorists were killed while a third ‘blew himself up’ as police and other security agencies concluded an operation at the Karachi police chief’s office. The gunmen barged into the police office located at Shahrah-e-Faisal and opened indiscriminate fire at those present there.

"We are confident that we would be able to take on the terrorists groups functioning within Pakistan," he maintained.

However, he added, "I do believe we will be in a high risk security phase until the question of the security threats emanating out of Afghanistan [stand] redressed."
