SC Judge Audio Leak: PBC Convenes Meeting To Discuss Filing Reference In SJC
The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has decided to call a meeting to discuss whether to file a reference against a Supreme Court (SC) judge over leaked audio that was allegedly recorded between the judge and the former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi.

In the leaked audio, Parvez Elahi can be heard allegedly talking about handling courts.

However, the former Punjab chief minister asserted that the conversation with the lawyer had been recorded and twisted.

To submit the reference to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), the PBC has called a meeting of all heads of provincial bar councils, including the Islamabad Bar Council.

PBC Executive Committee Chairman Hassan Raza Pasha said the meeting will be held in next week in Islamabad. He further said that vice chairpersons of all provincial bar councils and the Islamabad Bar Council chairman would attend the meeting.

He stated that when the meeting deliberates and approves the reference's filing, it would be submitted to the SJC, and the meeting's conclusion may be made public.

He said that he had demanded a forensic examination of the alleged audio tape during a news conference he had addressed in Lahore recently.

It is pertinent to mention here that Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Abid S Zubairi had previously described the audio leaks as being doctored.

Zubairi had stated, "I have listened to the audio recording, and I unequivocally assert that this audio is doctored."
