Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Zainab Umair has filed a harassment case against Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
During the hearing of the case today, the counsel for the petitioner told the court that his client is being pressured to vote against her party’s candidate in the election for the Punjab chief minister, scheduled for Friday.
The lawyer said that his client has received threatening messages on her WhatsApp number, adding that the interior minister himself is doing all this. “Therefore, the government be ordered to clarify its position in this regard.”
Justice Aalia Neelum asked the petitioner to make the WhatsApp messages, she allegedly received from the interior minister, part of the case’s record.
The judge also asked the petitioner to better approach to the Supreme Court.
Opposing the petition, The Punjab additional advocate general said that the petition is inadmissible for hearing.
The judge responded that let the provincial government give its reply in the case and then the court would look into it.
Later, the court adjourned hearing of the case until tomorrow.
