'Imran Khan Will Not Be Disqualified In Toshakhana Reference'
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan will not stand disqualified in the Toshakhana reference, journalist Murtaza Solangi said on Thursday.

Solangi made the comments in flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay. The former Radio Pakistan director general likened the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to a rotting corpse resting on a rooftop that vitiated neighbourhood  atmosphere.

He said that while it was possible that Imran may be disqualified he thought this was unlikely. If Imran was disqualified, Solangi said, the verdict will be challenged before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) or Supreme Court in 24 hours.

He said Imran will get imprisoned if he mounted the long march all the way to the red zone in the federal capital. The PTI chairman, Solangi said, will also be met with force.

Lawyer Abdul Moiz Jaferii said the NAB had been used to dole out employment opportunities to retired military men. if the ECP ruled against the PTI chairman he would badmouth the commission further, Jaferii said. He has been presenting such a narrative earlier too.

Journalist Amber Shamsi said the NAB should be abolished. This, she said was especially true since the nation had both, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The journalist said the ECP was not taken seriously up until recently. Now, she said, the commission boasted functionaries that had been striving to strengthen it.

Shamsi said the PTI naturally saw the top court's rejection of the governmental request to stop Imran's long march as a victory. The government, however, could resort to force if it turned violent, she said.

Flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay streams Monday to Saturday at 9pm.
