India’s best films are coming from South India, and are giving Bollywood films a hard time. South Indian films are gaining popularity rapidly. Bollywood is producing one flop film after another. Superstars like Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are losing their touch too.
Seemingly, Bollywood is not as committed to content these day as to casting stars. It is more focused on actors or actresses – which is quite a misconception, as viewers demand something new and different. They want content, not superstars.
South Indian films on the other hand are based on real life drama that people are able to relate to. They have learned to approach film-making with a new perspective, and are doing very well with the cine-goers.
South Indian fantasy epic, Bahubali, gained global fame. The movie was dubbed in ten languages; include Japanese, Chinese, French, German, and many national languages of India. Bahubali’s lead actor, Prabhas Raju, played a super-duper role in the film but failed to make a reputation in Bollywood.
Does this mark the end of Bollywood?
Movies and dramas can change a viewer’s mindset. India seems to have failed to deliver a positive message through its movies as they are mostly against Islam and Pakistan. Bollywood has begun to bore the audience by creating nothing dynamic. This is the modern era, where people want to enjoy something unique. Bollywood has lost its vision. It’s become old-fashioned. It reckons that only good-looking stars attract cine-goers. That’s a misnomer. South Indian films have proved that looks do not matter. Performance and plot are more important.
Also, the language used in Bollywood films is replete with expletives. Film-makers, through the use of such bad language, are making abuse an accepted part of our culture. They should refrain from making this a norm.
