Beloved Singer Nayyara Noor Passes Away At 71
The beloved national singer Nayyara Noor has passed away at 71 years of age after battling cancer on Saturday, according to her friends and family.

Nayyara Noor had an illustrious career spanning many decades, and had won many national accolades. She was lovingly given the title of Bulbul-e-Pakistan, and was the recipient of the President's Pride of Performance Award, as well as the Nigar Award.

Born in Assam, India in 1950, Noor migrated to Pakistan with her family in the late 1950s. She was a student at the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore, and it was here during an annual dinner that she was singing at, that she was discovered by Professor Asrar Ahmed from the Islamia College. He then brought her in to sing for the university's Radio Pakistan programs.

Although she had no formal musical training, her melodious voice won over hearts, and she made her public singing debut in 1971, with Pakistani serials and films. She frequently covered popular ghazals by coveted Pakistani poets like Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Ghalib.

Her talent will be deeply missed by Pakistan, and she will continue to live on in our hearts and memories.
