The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has extended the judicial remand of former Punjab Governor Umar Sarfraz Cheema for 11 days in the Jinnah House attack case and violent riots that were launched by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership and workers on May 9 after the arrest of the party chief Imran Khan in a corruption case.

Police produced Cheema before the court on the expiration of his judicial remand. During the hearing, police requested the court extend the duration of judicial remand as a challan is under process in this case. Upon this, ATC Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar extended his remand and ordered police to present him before the court on September 1. Cheema appeared before the court in a wheelchair due to medical issues.

On the other hand, the ATC also extended the judicial remand of Khadija Shah, daughter of the former finance minister, for 11 days in the Askari Tower attack case and riots.

ATC Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar ordered the police to present Khadija on September 1.

It is pertinent to mention here that Khadija is also on judicial remand in the Jinnah House attack case.
