Karan Johar reminisced about his time as an assistant director on the classic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), sharing anecdotes about his anxious interactions with the late iconic actor Amrish Puri, who portrayed Kajol's stern father in the film.
In a recent episode of his celebrity talk show, in which he hosted Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty, Karan said, "I have to tell you, my father and Amrish ji come from the same village, so the first person my father told me whose feet I had to touch was Amrish ji's." Ajay responded by saying, "The only person whose feet I have touched is also Amrish Ji's, because the first shot I took with him, I touched his feet."
Karan Johar recalls working with Amrish Puri on the Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge sets, saying he was terrified of him while he was an associate director on DDLJ. He said Amrish Puri was concerned about details and would inquire about the time in London and the timing of the action to adjust his watch correctly. Puri's attention to detail also upset Johar, who described him as a lovely man.
Aditya Chopra wrote and directed Dilwale Duhania Le Jayenge, which featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The film is still regarded as one of the most classic works of Indian cinema.
