Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has denied claims that she gifted her newlywed son, Junaid Safdar, a Rs.140 million Mercedes, calling the reports another instance of 'fake news.'
Sharing articles by the Sunday Times and Paperazzi Magazine, Maryam wrote, "This blatant lie is all over social media. It is disappointing how reputed accounts propagate fake news without verification.”

Rumors had speculated that Maryam had bought Junaid a Mercedes G63 AMG.
Junaid Safdar married Ayesha Saif in a lavish wedding in December 2021. At the event, Junaid wore a shatoosh shawl, made from the fur of endangered Tibetan antelopes, reportedly worth nearly Rs.3 million.
The wedding celebrations provided ample fodder for news channels and social media. Maryam was criticized for 'overdressing' and 'stealing the bride's thunder.' Many stated that the politician was being vilified for having the audacity to look good 'at her age'.
Still, the Sharif family has been at the brunt of corruption allegations from the current Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration.
"Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif are the ringleaders of this mafia. They have mercilessly looted the national resources to give benefit to their family" Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) and Punjab government’s spokesman Hasaan Khawar has claimed.
Last year, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted a challan against PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and son Hamza Shehbaz for their alleged involvement in a money laundering case.
