A day after issuing a notice over former general secretary Asad Umar's statement, it seems that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is heading towards an implosion, sending a show cause to former provincial president Parvez Khattak.
The notice, issued by the party's new Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, informs Khattak that the party leadership has noticed he has been contacting party members.
The show cause notice goes on to accuse Khattak of inciting members to leave the party.
"In view of these reported activities, you are hereby called to explain yourself in writing within seven (07) days of this notice."
The notice adds that if his reply is unsatisfactory or fails to respond, he could invite action from the party leadership per the party's stated policies and rules.

The notice comes a day after another party member, Asad Umar, faced a rebuttal from the party over what the PTI termed were statements of a confused individual.
In a television interview with ARY's Kashif Abbasi on the show To The Point, Umar opened up about his reasons for quitting as the party's General Secretary.
Among the key reasons he said he had communicated to party chairman Imran Khan via a text message were the policies of not speaking to other political stakeholders and embarking on a path that would end up in a clash. The clash manifested itself as the incidents on May 9, 2023, where after Imran Khan's arrest, party workers had ransacked several state installations, including the Corps Commander's House, Jinnah House in Lahore, and the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, among several other installations across the country.
That incident precipitated a widespread crackdown on the party, with thousands arrested. It also prompted an exodus of several senior office bearers of the party.
Who is Parvez Khattak?
Parvez Khattak is a veteran politician from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He helped raise the political infrastructure of PTI in KP. He went on to serve as the province's chief minister during PTI's maiden government in KP.
He oversaw several key projects, including the revival of tourism, the Billion Tree Tsunami project, the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit projects and the first iteration of the Sehat Card projects.
In the 2018 elections, Khattak was elected to the National Assembly, where he served as the federal defence minister in Imran Khan's cabinet.
Recently, there have been rumours that Khattak has been contacting several PTI members, wooing them to join his potential faction of PTI or even a new party comprised of former PTI members, particularly those from KP.
