Two Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs and others have been booked by the Karachi police for breaking into the house of the party's defecting lawmaker Dr Ramesh Kumar in the Bath Island area of the city.
The FIR was registered in the name of the state though a sub inspector of police.
Dawn reported that it includes the following Sections: 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting while armed with deadly weapon), 149 (an unlawful assembly guilty of an offence committed in prosecution of a common object), 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 506-B (punishment for criminal intimidation), 353 (Use of assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or for a shorter term) of the PPC.
The FIR states that the cops were told that two PTI MPAs Shah Nawaz Jadoon and Saeed Ahmad and 50 to 60 other people had broken into Ramesh Kumar's apartment in Bath Island. Further, the FIA says that the attackers chanted the slogans of 'lota' [turncoat] outside the lawmaker's residence. The PTI MNAs and other men also allegedly used abusive language against Ramesh Kumar.
The complaint also claimed that the attackers threatened Ramesh Kumar and said they would not 'spare' him and his family if he goes against PM Imran Khan during the vote of no-confidence against him.
