Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari has taken to social media to express her anger over her daughter Imaan Zainab Hazir-Mazari's tweet which claimed that the country is being run through witchcraft. Earlier, lawyer and activist Hazir-Mazari had tweeted:
"If the country was meant to be run by witchcraft [jadu tona], then why is this nation's money being wasted on such a large cabinet? The country is being ridiculed on account of this witchcraft and you don't want to talk about those behind this magic? This certainly cannot be!"
Reacting to her daughter's tweet, federal minister Shireen Mazari said that she was ashamed:
The clash between a federal minister and her daughter who is known as a critic of the government has once again drawn divided responses on social media. Support for either mother or daughter is divided along the lines of government supporters and critics. The latter have pointed out that it is Hazir-Mazari's right to speak her mind on the government, even though her parent is a prominent figure in the cabinet.
This is not the first time that Imaan Zainab Hazir-Mazari has drawn public ire from her mother for her political views on social media.

I am ashamed you would resort to such low personalised unsubstantiated attacks esp since as a lawyer u shd know without any proof hurling such accusations is defamation. When all substantive issue-based criticism fails this level of a base personal attack is plain shameful. https://t.co/drbLN5bq9w
