Following the announcement of the unofficial results, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers and supporters rejoiced as the party won the majority of national and provincial assembly seats in the April 21 by-elections.
In addition to winning 10 of the 16 seats in the provincial legislatures, the party also claimed at least two of the five seats in the National Assembly, according to the unofficial results.
Each of the following parties has gained one seat in the provincial assemblies: Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, and Sunni Ittehad Council, which is supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Adnan Afzal Chattha of the PML-N defeated Fayyaz Chattha of the PTI to win the PP-36 Wazirabad seat.
