On the directions of Punjab Caretaker Minister for Information and Culture Amir Mir, the Home Department has decided to impose a ban on 18 stage dancers involved in performing vulgar moves during their performances.

The home department has issued show-cause notices to dancers on the recommendation of the Punjab Arts Council, and a time period of one week has been given to performers to submit their stances.

The dancers would be banned from performing within the Punjab province in the case of unsatisfactory answers.

On the directions of Amir Mir, the Punjab Arts Council has written to the home department to initiate action against Shamah Theatre, Tamaseel Theatre, Mehfil Theatre, Naz Theatre, Sitara Theatre, Alfalah Theatre, Friends Theatre, and Marathon Theatre for showcasing 'obscene' dances.

The caretaker minister said that no one would be allowed to perform the vulgar dance in cultural institutions, adding that teams of the Punjab Arts Council are monitoring stage dramas.
