Khairpur Journalist Fakes Kidnapping, Arrested After Conspiracy Exposed

Journalist Fayaz Solangi has been arrested by Khairpur Police for staging his own abduction, deceiving both the public and law enforcement. The incident, which prompted a major search operation, was later exposed as a conspiracy involving Solangi and two accomplices, aimed at settling a personal land dispute.

According to reports gathered by The Friday Times, Solangi was allegedly kidnapped on his way home a week ago, prompting the police in Khairpur and Kashmore districts to launch a search operation in the riverine areas of both districts.

The police later raided a house occupied by the Solangi family and recovered the "abducted" journalist. However, a thorough investigation revealed a deep-rooted conspiracy, and during a joint press conference, SSP Kashmore Zubair Nazir Sheikh and SSP Khairpur Touheed Rehman Memon exposed Solangi's plan.

Solangi had allegedly colluded with two accomplices to stage his abduction, seeking revenge against his cousins over a land dispute. He even posted a fabricated video showing himself being tortured. The incident sparked widespread concern within the journalist community, leading to strikes in several cities and extensive media coverage. Journalists across the province condemned his abduction and demanded his recovery.

During police custody, one of Solangi's allies, Mazhar, revealed the truth, leading to Solangi's arrest and the registration of an FIR against him and his accomplices. The police chief condemned Solangi's actions as an offense against society.

Solangi, a reporter from Hingorja city in Khairpur district, was associated with Sindhi news channel KTN and the Daily Kawish newspaper. Following his deceptive act, KTN News dismissed him from his position via a notification issued on Monday. The journalist community has strongly condemned Solangi's actions, criticizing him for misusing his profession and bringing humiliation to the community.
