Asma Jahangir Continues To Fight For Pakistan
The spirit of the late human rights activist and lawyer Asma Jahangir lives on with the 4th iteration of the Asma Jahangir Conference being held in Lahore on Saturday and Sunday.

The conference is a two-day event and is being held at the Avari Hotel in Lahore. The event has been organised by the AGHS Legal Aid Cell and Asma Jahangir Foundation in collaboration with the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan and the Pakistan Bar Council.

The theme for this year is Crisis of Constitutionalism in South Asia, and a number of local and international policymakers, journalists, activists and analysts will be speaking at the event. The broader theme has also been broken off into smaller subsections covering the following areas:

  • Constitutionalism and the Role of Institutions

  • Gender, Justice and Equality

  • Human Security – Right to Employment, Livelihood and Equality

  • Extremism and Militancy

  • Challenges to Peaceful Co-Existence

  • Onslaught on Civil Society in South Asia


Speakers of note that will be participating in the event include Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, and economist Atif Mian among many others. The complete schedule for the event can be found here.
