Release on Youtube on Saturday November 19, Mubarak Dad’s single song 'Mast O Mureed' is making every Baloch heart swell with pure and delighted music. The very young Dad has recently emerged with his masterclass singles for last couple of years. His last single 'Tahi Gham' hit 161k views making it one of his most beautiful tracks. The lyrics by Hamad Hamraz – another young Baloch poet in making – portraying the Baloch societal characters attracts listeners.
Dad calls his “Tahi Gham” one of his all-time favourites, followed by ‘Mast O Mureed’. Mast Taukali (Mast) and Shay Mureed (Mureed) are two important characters with dedicated love stories, resulting in separation, carry the emotions of the whole nation in itself. Mast’s story with Sammo and Mureed’s fiancé Hani are two incomplete stories that reflect how the ancient Baloch society was so loyal to the love they made. Mubarak’s voice, Hamad’s lyrics, Rashid’s and Anzila’s acting, and the rest of the teamwork made it a mandatory single release for the Baloch masses to listen and have a sense of history in its form other than that of resistance.
Dad’s important note is his new rhythm in his every new song. As a young singer, he is putting all his efforts to bring modernity in the Balochi singing department. “Mast O Mureed has been a long project prepared in 2019, but we made it happen in the year 2022 due to my vocal issues back in 2019,” Dad tells me, adding that Islam Zemer, a singer and a music director, asked him to take a break. And then Dad, as he is a student of Education Department at University of Balochistan, Quetta, got engrossed in his educational activities until late 2022. He shared his composition with one of his friends, Nuzrat Jumma, who pushed him to record the song at Quetta. “And here it is, we did it and are getting good response,” Dad smiles.
Dad, from the very end of his singing, is observed in bringing modernity in his works. 'Mast O Mureed' is an attempt to give Balochi music industry a new direction, Dad believes. “We may not completely do justice with modernity in our songs as emerging artists, but whatever falls under our caliber, we try to implement that in the field.” This honesty includes Dad in the list of most prominent artists of the Baloch society.
When asked of how he thought of ‘Mast O Mureed’, Dad says that he tries to resemble his listeners in his music. “As a youth myself, I always ask myself what I would like to listen as a youth and select my compositions accordingly.” This new track is among those of his composed works. Dad’s audience is always the new generation and he is putting efforts to inspiring them through his songs.
Over three years that ‘Mast O Mureed’ took to complete, Dad was always working in one or the other way of accomplishing the works of the song. He had to initially get it recorded with Islam Zemer in Turbat city, but because of certain issues being in Quetta, he apologized to Zemer and washed his song from there and got it recorded in Quetta in 2022. “Islam, as a sincere friend and a director, understood my compulsions and asked me to go on with the music as I had wished for.”
Dad changed several variations and tried to make it as unique as he could.
