Minister Ali Zaidi Confirms He Was In Contact With Broadsheet CEO
Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Ali Haider Zaidi has confirmed that he had received some information from Broadsheet CEO Kaveh Moussavi and had then passed on the information to 'relevant authorities.'

In an interview with Geo News, Kaveh Moussavi issued an apology to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for being part of a ‘witch hunt’ against him, which he said resulted in not a ‘scintilla of evidence’ of corruption. He unequivocally stated that his firm had found ‘not one rupee’ which suggested the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) supremo was involved in corruption, stolen, hidden or unexplained wealthy anywhere in the world.

Earlier, the Broadsheet CEO had said that he was in contact with two ministers through Skype and WhatsApp regarding the asset recovery firm's inquiry into 'stolen wealth'.  Federal Minister Ali Haider Zaidi confirmed that the two were in contact, but did not say more about the details of their conversation.

Since he was elected in 2018, Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to rid Pakistan of corruption, often pointing to rampant money laundering and stolen wealth by the previous governments. The prime minister had earlier alluded to a large sum discovered by Broadsheet, which many had erroneously assumed belonged to Nawaz Sharif and his family.

PM Imran had said, "The Broadsheet owner has said that a Pakistani politician transferred USD 1 billion USD from Saudi Arabia to London, he’s not naming who but USD 1 billion sent by one man; the people here are very rich but the country is poor and under the debt. The country is relying on debt. There are Pakistanis who live in palaces in the most expensive areas of London.”

“Broadsheet had found millions of stolen loot but not one Rupee attributable to Nawaz Sharif or family," Kaveh Moussavi said in a social media post this week.

The Broadsheet CEO further said, "Delighted to see the press waking up to the fact that NAB is the corrupt entity that needs to be investigated. I confirm again: Broadsheet found millions of stolen loot, but not 1 rupee attributable to Nawaz Sharif or family. Period!”
