Polls Are Being Delayed To Manipulate Results, Says PPP Info Secy

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faisal Karim Kundi indicated on Sunday that the reason for the election postponement is a concerted effort to falsify the results.

Kundi said that elections should not be postponed only because of the demands of a few political parties.

The PPP leader stressed that the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) decisions should be guided by the constitution rather than the preferences of a ‘few.’

On Wednesday, PPP Chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari decried the suspension of Pakistan's democracy, constitution, and elections for the sake of a single man's return, a clear reference to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Bilawal added that the ECP must respond to the people's demands and that any postponement of the election or failure to respect the voters is an insult.

Kundi, who is also the PPP's information secretary, stated that rather than constantly tinkering with the "selection" process, the ultimate choice should be left to the people in a fair election.

He said that the people should have the sole authority to choose and reject their representatives in the next elections.
