Deaths and Injuries:
Per the NDMA's update by September 23, at least 1606 people have died in Pakistan, of whom 579 are children, 325 women and 705 men. Of the 728 fatalities in Sindh, the province worst hit by the catastrophe, 313 are children, 281 men and 134 women. Balochistan has the second highest death toll among the provinces at 310, with 94 children, 75 women and 141 men. The total number of injured is now 12863.
The causes of deaths recorded include drowning, roof-collapse and electrocution. Casualties were reported in Kohlu, Barkhan, Zhob, Badin, Korangi, Tando M. Khan, Ghotki, Sujawal, Tando Allah Yar, Matiari, Larkana.
Damage to houses, infrastructure, properties:
The number of damaged houses has crossed 2 million, with 1.2 million houses partially damaged and 805003 destroyed. Of the total houses lost 1.7 million are in Sindh, 1061788 are partially damaged and 720799 destroyed. In KP 91463 houses are damaged, in Punjab 67981 and the estimated figure for Balochistan is 72235.
The number of livestock perished is more than one million at 1067241, with 340015 in Sindh, 318101 in Balochistan, 205106 in Punjab, 21328 in KP, and 792 in GB.
The loss and damage data for Balochistan shows a difference in estimated and confirmed figures. The authorities have indicated that damage assessment in 84 districts is underway and will tentatively complete by the end of September in Balochistan.
By now 13074 km of roads are affected nationwide, including 8389 km in Sindh, 2198 km in Balochistan, 1575 km in Punjab, 896 km in KP and 16 km in GB. Across the provinces 392 bridges are damaged.
Across Pakistan 9.4 million acres of crop area is potentially damaged, of which 4.8 million acres are in Sindh per the WFP. The number of damaged schools is at least 22,000 and 6.4 million Pakistanis are in need of immediate assistance, noted the agency.
