Biden Wins Democrat Primary In New Hampshire

US President Joe Biden won the Democratic Party's primary election in New Hampshire on Tuesday, despite his absence as party chairman, which Ray Buckley described as "overwhelming."

"Despite President Biden's absence from the ballot, Granite Staters still turned out in robust numbers to show their support for the great work that the Biden-Harris Administration has done to grow the economy, protect reproductive freedoms, and defend our democracy," Buckley said in a statement.

"Once again, New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary made history, and we are proud as ever."

Joe Biden's decision not to participate in the primary came as the Democratic National Committee downgraded early-voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire in favor of states such as South Carolina, Nevada, Georgia, and Michigan, which the party believes better reflect the party's diversity, according to CNN.

The 81-year-old president won an unofficial write-in campaign, asking Democrats to vote and show their support for Biden.

Separately, former President Donald Trump won the New Hampshire Republican primary on Tuesday, dealing a crushing defeat to his opponent, Nikki Haley.

Earlier, Donald Trump emphasized his support in New Hampshire, claiming that the people "are all going to vote for me again."

Haley congratulated the former president on his victory and stated that she would remain in the race.

"I'd want to congratulate Donald Trump on his victory tonight. "He earned it, and I want to recognize that," the 52-year-old former South Carolina governor stated.

However, she stated that the election is still "far from over" because other states have yet to vote.

"I have good news for everyone: New Hampshire is number one in the country. "It is not the last in the nation," Haley stated.

In response to the former president's victory, President Joe Biden's campaign stated Tuesday that the results of the Republican primary prove that Donald Trump has "all but locked up" the 2024 GOP candidacy.

"Tonight's results confirm Donald Trump has all but locked up the GOP nomination, and the election-denying, anti-freedom MAGA movement has completed its takeover of the Republican Party," Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement.

The statement went on to say: "Donald Trump is headed straight into a general election matchup where he'll face the only person to have ever beaten him at the ballot box: Joe Biden."
