Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the Election Act, 2017, would be amended to provide the interim leader the authority to make significant decisions, according to sources who say that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have agreed on Dar as caretaker prime minister.
In an interview with Dawn News, Dar was asked if Section 230 of the Election Law would be amended. Dar responded yes and stated that the country could not be given to a government for day-to-day choices.
He said that there was no need to conceal the situation because people would eventually learn about it.
He further said, "But I think that whoever takes on this responsibility, it would not be appropriate to spend three months of the nation's time on day-to-day decisions." "Our past experiences have not been very positive," he added.
The sources claimed that the government is taking the other political parties into confidence after striking a consensus.
Dar stated during the televised broadcast that it was "premature" to predict his selection.
"Yes, I saw those reports today. As a Muslim, I think you shouldn't strive for or lobby for any office yourself."
He said that it would be necessary to start an official Constitutional procedure and that it would be "premature" to announce that he had been chosen for the position.
