According to Daily Dunya (06 May 2019), the Jamaat-e-Islami’s Siraj-ul-Haq expressed his view that the nation had been deceived in the name of the State of Madinah. He went on to claim that instruments of colonialist (istemari) forces were obstructing the implementation of an Islamic system in the country.


Spiritual leadership


Speaking at the opening of the new Al-Qadir University, according to Daily Jang (06 May 2019), PM Imran Khan stated that there was no institution available for research on the Sufi masters. He went on to express his view that spirituality (roohaniyat) was a super-science and that it was, in fact, even ahead of science (ye science se bhee aagay hai). He also lamented the prevalence of Western culture among young people and the fact that mobile phones had created problems.


Khwaja Asif’s on the cabinet


It was reported by Daily Jang (07 May 2019) that the PML-N’s Khwaja Asif accused the federal cabinet of consisting of people who had been for hire (karaye ke loog).

Chaudhry Nisar was quoted by Daily Dunya (08 May 2019) as saying that he found it embarrassing to be a political turncoat (lota ban’nay mein sharam aati hai). He stated further that he was not part of the PML-N and that in his view, the PTI administration was nothing less than a calamity for people (kisi aafat se kamm nahin hai).

Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, according to Daily Dunya (09 May 2019), opined that people who could not see a person standing in front of them had been entrusted with the task of spotting the moon for the lunar Islamic calendar (woh loog chaand dekhtay hein jinhein samnay betha banda nazar nahin aata).

It was reported by Daily Jang (09 May 2019) that when asked as to whether it was easier to be in government or in opposition, PM Imran Khan stated that it was easy to run a government. (hakoomat karna aasaan hai).


Eid trip?


According to Daily Dunya (10 May 2019), when a journalist pointed out to Asif Ali Zardari the major cases open against him in the courts, he replied that these were all blessings of Ramazan (yeh sab Ramazan ki barkatein hein). Moreover, when asked where he planned to spend Eid, Zardari replied that it remained to be seen where the judges permitted him to celebrate the festival.


Explosive expectations


Sheikh Rasheed, according to Daily Express (12 May 2019), commented that a deal had been done with the IMF and that the people were about to bombed with further price rises (awam per mazeed mehngai bumb giraya jaye ga). He further went on to claim that former Finance Minister Asad Umar was not an inexperienced person and he would soon be part of the federal cabinet.


In two years...


It was reported by Daily Express (11 May 2019) that Sheikh Rasheed stated that he was not a sycophant (chaaploos nahin hoon) and that he admitted that there had been price hikes. He predicted, however, that PM Imran Khan would rid the country of its problems in two years.

According to Daily Express (12 May 2019), Federal Minister for Science and Techonlogy Fawad Chaudhry announced that the government was preparing a mobile phone app that would allow people to see the status of the moon for the lunar calendar themselves. He further stated that in 1962, Pakistan had been the second country after the Soviet Union to launch a rocket into space.
