Members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) women's wing are purportedly talking about the strategy to approach the General Headquarters (GHQ) during protests on May 9 in a fresh purported audio leak that has appeared online.
During demonstrations over former prime minister Imran Khan's detention on May 9, which the army has termed "Black Day," PTI members and sympathizers assaulted military installations including the GHQ and Lahore Corps Commander House (Jinnah House).
As part of a crackdown by the government to apprehend those who planned or encouraged acts of violence, several PTI members and leaders have been detained. The PTI has denied participating in vandalism.
But according to the recently leaked tape, PTI leader Kanwal Shauzab is said to have given the female PTI members the order to head to the GHQ.
The recording is apparently of different telephone conversations between former PTI MPA Farah Agha, current deputy general secretary of the party's women's wing Farkhanda Koukeb, and former MPA Sabreena Javaid.
Farah is allegedly telling Sabreena during the first chat that all internet connections are down and that they should now proceed to the GHQ.
In the second clip, Farah is heard informing Farkhanda that Liaquat Bagh is being severely shelled and that male supporters are fighting with the police.
