Condemning the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif on Twitter, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said that the slain reporter paid the 'ultimate price' for speaking the truth and exposing the powerful.
Taking to Twitter to condemn the killing of journalist Arshad Sharif, who was shot dead while in Kenya early on Monday morning, Imran Khan said that he was shocked at the 'brutal murder' of the slain journalist.
"He had to leave the country & be in hiding abroad but he continued to speak the truth on social media, exposing the powerful," he wrote, adding that the entire nation was mourning his death today.
He continued and said that a proper judicial investigation must be conducted, taking into account both the journalist's statements as well as evidence from other sources.
"We have descended into a state of brutality, unknown in civilised society, indulged in by the powerful against those who dare to criticise & expose wrongdoings," the former prime minister said.
He then offered a prayer for Sharif and his family.

Reports of journalist Arshad Sharif’s death by gunshot to the head surfaced early morning on Monday. While many on social media are of the opinion that Sharif was ‘murdered’ in a deliberate attack, the Kenyan media has quoted the Kenyan police as saying that the journalist was shot by the police in a case of ‘mistaken identity’.
