KP Elections Could Be Scheduled Between 15-17 April
A letter from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province says that elections to the KP provincial assembly may be held on a date between 15 and 17 April 2023.

The provincial assembly was dissolved on 18 January this year.

The letter, written by secretary ECP Omar Hamid Khan, states that the election programme activities would require 54 days to be completed, whereafter the polls can be held.

The ECP is also constitutionally obliged to hold the polls with ninety days of the dissolution of the assembly. Counting from 18 January onwards, the prescribed timeframe would expire beyond 17 April.

Based on these calculations, sources are reporting that elections to the Punjab assembly could be held between 9 and 13 April.

The ECP secretary has also asked the KP governor to assign the polling date for elections to the provincial assembly.
