Female PTI Activist Assaults Stage Actor Tahir Anjum Outside PA

A female Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist and others attacked stage actor Tahir Anjum after storming his vehicle as he drove by the party's hunger strike camp outside the Punjab Assembly.

The irate party worker, who was at the rally to support her leaders, ripped one of his sleeves while attempting to haul him away.

Aneela Jutt, alias "Neeli Pari," was identified as the PTI supporter accused of aggressively hitting and insulting the actor, who is also the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) Cultural Wing.

Aneela claimed that Anjum used to post demeaning videos about detained PTI founder Imran Khan, calling him a "terrorist."

Footage of the incident circulated on social media, showing the PTI activist throwing abuse at the stage actor as he battled to stay inside his car, his right arm's sleeve ripped to rags.

A few policemen and witnesses tried to stop Aneela, but she refused to give in and defied security personnel, rejecting their warnings and entreaties to allow Anjum to leave the area.

After great commotion, Anjum managed to leave the riot.

Later, while talking to the media, the actor voiced his fury over the incident, saying that the PTI's bullies didn't care that his children were in the car with him.

He condemned the PTI workers for engaging in "hooliganism" akin to members of a "terrorist outfit" and buffeting him.

Before fleeing the scene, Anjum denied posting videos critical of the PTI founder or engaging in any illegal conduct that may have triggered such an attack.

The incident occurred outside the Punjab Assembly building, where the Imran-founded party is holding its second symbolic hunger strike demonstration after Islamabad, seeking the release of detained PTI leaders.
