Defending his use of the religion card, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he mentions Allah and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in his speeches because of his faith, not due to any political motives.
“I am a person who was the superstar of the cricket world and has travelled the entire world,” the prime minister said during a speech in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday. He further said that he wanted to guide young people towards a righteous path.
“Youngsters, there are always two paths; one is the right and the other is the wrong path. The former is a difficult route and latter the route that was followed by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)," the premier said.
PM Imran said that Pakistan would flourish if it followed the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and maintained justice, equity and rule of law across the country.
He further celebrated the United Nation's recent resolution declaring March 15 'International Day to Combat Islamophobia.'
Turning to the opposition, he said that despite his better attempts, he could not stop himself from rereferring to Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman as 'diesel.' He told the crowd that he coached himself before each jasla to refrain from using the word, but could not control himself once he got on stage.
Earlier this week, the Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a second show-cause notice against the prime minister for repeatedly holding public rallies in KP in violation of the election code of conduct before the upcoming local government elections.
