Reacting to the official letter written by President Dr. Arif Alvi to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the interior minister said that President Alvi should act like the head of state and the symbol of the unity of the federation, not become "a puppet who acts on the orders of Imran Khan".

Rana Sanaullah said that President Alvi should get an answer from chairman PTI Imran Khan as to why he "committed terrorism". He further asked the President to write a letter to Imran Khan to return 190 million pounds to Pakistan, and to respond on the allegations against him in the Toshakhana and prohibited funding cases in the court.

The federal minister further said that a law breaker had been imposed on the constitutional post. Rana Sanaullah asked that when political opponents were arrested on frivolous allegations of possessing 15 kilos of heroin, where was the hue and cry over human rights at that time?

Interior minister Rana Sanaullah reminded President Alvi that Imran Khan had put the sisters and daughters of his political opponents in the death cells. "When you talk of human rights, where were your human rights when the bones and ribs of the journalists were broken?" Sanaullah asked President Alvi.

The interior minister also inquired whether petrol bombs, bullets and slingshots were fired at the police in accordance with his understanding of human rights.
