Cricket commentator Ramiz Raja has been cited in the media as saying that the Prime Minister's office had informed him that he was the favourite to replace Ehsan Mani as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This comes in the wake of reports that Prime Minister Imran Khan had met separately with both Raja and Mani, and that the latter had wanted to continue in his position as PCB Chairman for what he described as “unfinished” tasks from his three-year term.
In his comments to Dawn.com, Ramiz Raja has stated that an official notification for his nomination by the PM will soon be issued.
Before forming the current government, PM Khan had been a vocal critic of the process by which governments appoint the PCB Chairman. He had opined that the Board is run on an “ad hoc” basis, and had instead called for an elected Chairman.
