Alvi Debunks Report Of Bajwa Role In 2018 Elections And Senate
President Arif Alvi has debunked a report quoting him that "General Bajwa and his team" helped Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan in the Senate and aided the party in the elections, too.

It came after a report by The News, which said Alvi made the remarks while talking to journalists, foreign diplomats and members of the business community on Saturday.

Dismissing the claim, Alvi said it was out of context, “twisted and self-concocted”.

The statement issued by President’s Secretariat took notice of the remarks “wrongly attributed to him”.

President Alvi, as per the report, was asked about the deteriorated ties between PTI chairman and the ex-army chief, to which he allegedly responded that he was still trying to figure out the same.

It also stated that he spoke about the said ties souring last October and in either April or May, 2022.

He, however, allegedly denied that Imran, at any point in time, was contemplating Gen (retd) Bajwa's sacking.

The former COAS and military are accused of helping the former ruling party take the reins, while also facilitating them in running its internal affairs.
