Umar Farooq Zahoor Files A Rs500m Defamation Case Against Ex-wife Sophia Mirza
Norwegian-Pakistani businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor has filed a defamation suit against his ex-wife Sophia Mirza in a court in Lahore, seeking damages of Rs500 million.

After receiving the suit, the court issued a notice to Sophia and sought her reply by September 7.

In his petition, Zahoor, who is the Ambassador at Large for the Republic of Liberia for the regions of Middle East and South East Asia, including Pakistan, said that he is a well-known businessman with his business spread all around the globe.

The petition stated that the dispute between Zahoor and Sophia was started in 2007 over the custody of their twin daughters, adding that Sophia had handed over the custody of their daughters to Zahoor after “receiving a colossal sum of money”.

Referring Sophia’s June 28 press conference, in which she levelled several allegations against him, including involvement in money laundering, Zahoor stated that his ex-wife is “using her connections in media to defame him by circulating false information and defamatory material”.

Recently, the twin daughters had said that their mother is making "fake problems" and spreading fake news just to get attention and publicity whereas they are living happily with their father, Zahoor, in Dubai.
