Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan has announced anti-government rallies in all major cities across the country on July 2, urging public to break the ‘barrier of fear’.
The former premier, while addressing a press conference at his Bani Gala residence today, said that he would address the rally for Rawalpindi and Islamabad residents. He told the party leaders to organise rallies in their respective cities, terming it necessary for the ‘future generations'.
He said that the “super tax” imposed by the incumbent government would add to already rising inflation in the country and increase the corporate tax to 40 per cent, which is at 25 per cent in India and Bangladesh at present.
He predicted that the incumbent government would again hike the prices of petroleum products and burden the common man, adding that the coalition government is only worried about how they could achieve an “NRO-II”.
Talking about the recent amendments to the NAB law, he said: “The PTI has moved the Supreme Court against the amendments in the NAB law…. The looters have protected their Rs1,100 billion via NAB amendments. They have given themselves a clean chit through the reforms.”
He further said that it is his party’s right to organise anti-government rallies and called out the government for its action against his party workers during the previous “Haqeeqi Azadi March”.
