Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday that all party lawmakers will abandon both: national and provincial assemblies.
The PTI supremo made the remarks at a power show in garrison city Rawalpindi where the party's long march for haqeeqi azadi -- full sovereignty reached earlier. Khan's address marks the first time he joined the march following the Wazirabad attempt at his life.
The PTI chief said the party will completely disassociate itself from what he termed a "corrupt system". In an anti-climax, he said the long march will not proceed to federal capital Islamabad citing the prospect of anarchy.
Khan urged the nation to break free from the shackles of slavery. Independence, he said, was always fought for and never served on a platter.
He said if the foreign conspiracy cypher was a "drama" what was placed before the National Security Council. Those airing such allegations were very much part of the conspiracy, he said. Terming the narrative fraudulent was akin to bringing the nation into disrepute.
Citing instances of what he routinely terms instances of state excesses, he presented examples of Major Sajid Bokhari's son who is alleged to have killed a police constable, Shahbaz Gill's nabbing and a 70-year-old woman PTI supporter having been held.
PTI chairman Imran Khan was injured in a Wazirabad firing incident earlier in November. Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of the PTI chairman’s container earlier. It later emerged that he had been injured. The PTI supremo sustained a bullet in the leg, according to initial reports. The PTI chairman was taken to a Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore where his condition was said to be stable.
