Three thousand Sikh pilgrims who arrived via Wagah will join the 554th birthday festivities in Nankana Sahib on Sunday.
The three-day ceremonies began on Saturday, and Sikhs from India will be transported to Farooqabad by special buses under heavy security to pay respect to the Sikh religion's founder. They will be returned in the evening and will remain at Gurudwara Janam Asthan.
The celebrations, which began on Saturday with the Akhandpat ceremony, will culminate on Monday with the Bhog. Tomorrow will also see the Nagar Keertan rally.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, pilgrims met interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi. They expressed gratitude to the chief minister for his hospitality and accommodations for the pilgrims. They expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government for its efforts to protect and maintain Sikh sacred places.
DPO Saaed Aziz leads a 3,000-strong security team in Nankana Sahib and the neighboring districts.
The government makes special arrangements for Guru Nanak's birth and death anniversaries because his birthplace (janam asthan) and everlasting resting place (samadhi) are both in Pakistan.
