A team of Pakistani students has secured the third position in the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) University Startup Generator 2023. The competition, which ran for eight weeks, aimed at promoting collaboration and engagement among university students in the CAREC region to strengthen the overall startup ecosystem. The winners were announced during an award ceremony hosted by the CAREC Secretariat on 26 April.
Out of the 168 teams that participated in the program, which represented 580 students from 10 CAREC countries, the Goddard Discovery team from NED University of Engineering and Technology and Lahore College For Women University was awarded third prize for their project, "AI-driven Assistant for Researchers." This project aimed to assist researchers in literature review and online collaboration.
The first prize was won by the NIP team from Central University of Finance and Economics and Renmin University for their app "Know Bus," which offers clean and convenient ride-sharing options. The second prize was won by the GSL team from Shanghai Sanda University for their project, "AI Office Butler," which uses artificial intelligence to improve office productivity.
Additionally, the 4You team from Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Mingachevir State University, and Baku Higher Oil School received a special prize for their "Psychological and Fitness App for Children," which aims to promote physical and mental wellness among children.
During the program's Pitching Day on 29 March, the top 10 teams had an opportunity to present their ideas and projects. Lyaziza Sabyrova, Director of the CWRC, congratulated the winners and all the participants for their dedication and hard work throughout the program.
