Punjab Housing and Urban Development Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that a new low-income housing policy will soon be unveiled under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme.
He made this statement during an open court at Lahore Development Authority’s One Window Facility Centre on Friday, where he heard complaints that people and media personnel had against the LDA. He said that a new policy was being brought regarding the low-income housing under Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) Naya Pakistan Housing Programme.
Previously on Thursday Iqbal chaired the 86th board meeting of Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency where it was decided that a 20 per cent quota would be reserved for the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme in every new housing scheme.
"The Naya Pakistan Housing Project was the government’s priority and I intend to complete the maximum number of housing schemes in the minimum possible time" he said.
During Friday's open court, he also said that an action plan was being drafted against the illegal housing schemes. According to the new action plan, if a housing society is not regularised, the case will be sent to the Anti-Corruption department.
