Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto- A Legacy Of Defiance

Some moments live forever in our minds, some are sentimental and joyful, while others are utterly devastating. Something like that happened back in 2007 with the devoted followers of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. October 18, 2007, was indeed a historic moment when thousands of the followers of Bhutto were dying to witness the warm welcome of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. Millions of people gathered at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi to catch a glimpse of their beloved leader. The atmosphere was thrilling, with thousands chanting "Welcome Benazir Bhutto" as she stepped off the plane. It was a moment of immense joy and relief for her devoted followers, who had been waiting for her return for so long.

She represented the underrepresented, objected to the dictatorship, and fearlessly stood against all the terrorists that made her a dominant woman in the male-dominant world. She alone was enough to make the diabolic realise she was unrelenting.

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, heir to greatness, was born to lead. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto embraced mortality instead of standing against the rights of the people, like Shah Nawaz Bhutto once said, they didn't appeal for Shaheed Bhutto because he was not guilty and Shaheed Bhutto wouldn't accept the fate that his legacy is urging the dictator to forgive him.

Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto the dauntless heiress of courageous queen, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, the iconic lady who stood firmly against the oppressor with firm commitments that she wouldn't surrender even if she had to endure violence. This was the perspective of Bhutto that they preferred mortal sacrifice rather than sacrificing the future of Pakistan.

For 8 years she didn't see her beloved country, couldn't meet her dear ones, couldn't listen to the pleas of the needy, she was far away from her beloved Pakistan

After the martyrdom of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto became the dominant personality who challenged the terrorists and dictatorship. It was 1999 when the opponent realised her fame and love amongst the people of Pakistan and she became a threat to them, they were perplexed, a strong woman right before them advocating for a  democratic Pakistan. To cover their back, she was exiled to Dubai.

For 8 years she didn't see her beloved country, couldn't meet her dear ones, couldn't listen to the pleas of the needy, she was far away from her beloved Pakistan.

Time elapsed, but the memories of her dear homeland couldn't escape her mind. For years she prayed to Allah to return safely. For years she prayed that her ailing mother could visit Pakistan, just for once.  She loved her sweet Larkana, her homeland, which she couldn't forget even while living in the high-elite buildings of Dubai, all she missed was the fragrance of her motherland, Larkana. Even though she was living with rich cultural people, all she thought was the less fortunate brethren of her hometown, Sindh.

During that event she didn't suffer alone, her husband, President Asif Ali Zardari, suffered the hell behind bars. He was assaulted physically and mentally yet he stayed strong for the future of this country, for his dearest soulmate and precious youngsters. Every day, their children would ask their mother, "When will father return home?"

8 winters have passed, and she finally returned to Pakistan. That moment was ecstatic. Millions traveled to Karachi airport to receive their beloved Queen. Soon that moment of joy was turned into fear when the rally was under attack with a bomb, many wondered for the life of Shaheed Mohtarma, and upon hearing the news that she was safe and fine, many took a breath of serenity. In that attack, which is named, "Karsaz" many lost their lives, and many did not return home safely. Shaheed Mohtarma visited the families of victims of Karsaz, giving a message that they are not alone but Pakistan Peoples Party is behind them all the way just like we always have, our party is committed to your cause. She was truly down to earth. Her energy was so positive that people would die to see her glimpse just for once. She wanted to participate in the coming elections but the tyrant had other plans. Just after 70 days, she was assassinated. At that moment, she was waving goodbyes to her committed adherents, wearing the garland of roses in her final moments as if she knew her fate was sealed, and for the last moment she wanted to look at those she held dear, chanting, "Jiye Bhutto".
