Two Army Troops Martyred In Exchange Of Fire In North Waziristan
Two soldiers were martyred in an exchange of fire in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's North Waziristan district, the military said on Monday.

"On 26th Feb 2023, a fire exchange took place between terrorists and own troops in area of Spinwam, North Waziristan District," according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

It added that the troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. Resultantly, two terrorists were killed and two other terrorists apprehended.

"However, during intense exchange of fire, Sepoy lmran Ullah (age 25 years, resident of District Bajaur) and Sepoy Afzal Khan (age 21 years, resident of District Upper Dir) having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat," the ISPR said.

It further said that sanitisation of the area is underway to eliminate any terrorists in the area.

"Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens."

Concluding, the communiqué said that Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.

Last month, the ISPR said 11 terrorists, including a militant commander and two suicide bombers were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Tanai area of Wana in South Waziristan's tribal district.

The security forces had “successfully foiled a high-profile terrorist activity” by executing the operation.

The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, and target killing of police in South Waziristan.

Over the past few months, the country’s security situation has worsened, with proscribed terrorist groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Islamic State group, Hafiz Gul Bahadur (HGB) network, and Baloch separatist groups executing attacks with impunity across Pakistan.

The TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in late November 2022, and ordered its militants to carry out attacks across Pakistan.
