In an apparent reference to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, former minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Moonis Elahi has said that the former prime minister had apologised to his father Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi for calling him the "biggest dacoit" of the province.
Senior journalist Hamid Mir had asked in a tweet as to who it was that had termed Pervez Elahi the "biggest dacoit of Punjab." In a retweet, Moonis, while apparently referring to the PTI chief, said that when that person came to their house, he formally apologised to Pervaiz Elahi for calling him a 'dacoit.'
Earlier, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s younger brother Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain had announced a parting of ways with the party, and the launch of a new political party, besides alleging that Shujaat’s son Chaudhry Salik Hussain is seeking dollars from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari in return for support to the incumbent government.
The PML-Q is currently divided into two groups. One group is supporting the coalition government in the centre, while the Pervez Elahi-led group appears to side with the PTI.
