Paris Fashion Week Dismisses The Patriarchy With A Powerful Message By Dior

Starting from September 25 Paris Fashion Week is due to end on October 3.

This year Paris Fashion Week opened with a powerful message when French luxury fashion house Dior opened with a powerful message rendering the patriarchy as a totally outdated idea.

Messages such as "Take your hands off when I say no, take your eyes off when I say no” on video screens as models sashayed down in clothing items that gave off vibes of assertion over how women wanted to dress breaking the stereotypes of 'pretty and acceptable'.

Addressing the themes in the collection, Dior's designer Maria Grazia Chiuri spoke about the vision before the show. "The idea that we have of Dior comes from the famous images of the New Look, where what you see is always a silhouette, a body. I want to see instead the woman’s face and think about her personality.”

French fashion house YSL did not disappoint either with a dazzling stage by the Eiffel tower.

The guest list included Korean pop stars and British tennis star Emma Raducanu

Around  67 shows are planned over eight days but all eyes are on two specific collections as Sarah Burton and Gabriela Hearst present their final collections for Alexander McQueen and Chloé respectively as they bid their farewells.

While the couture collections are always a treat, there has been a strong presence of streetwear as well for spring/summer 2024.
