PM Shehbaz Lands In KSA To Attend WEF Summit

In order to attend the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif flew to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday night.

The prime minister and his delegation were welcomed at the Riyadh Royal airport by Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Bin Abdul Aziz, the deputy governor of the Riyadh region, Pakistan's ambassador to the kingdom, and the embassy personnel.

PM Shehbaz will meet Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman during his two-day visit from April 28 and 29 to discuss the dignitary's visit to Islamabad and Riyadh's potential for investment in Pakistan.

The prime minister is scheduled to meet with Kristalina Georgieva, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), along with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. During their meeting, they are expected to discuss the specifics of Pakistan's proposed new economic package and exchange perspectives.

"The prime minister and the ministers will participate in WEF discussions on issues related to trade and investment measures, new investment frameworks, restructuring of supply chains, sustainable growth, and the energy landscape," the Foreign Office said in a statement issued today.

In addition, the prime minister will have one-on-one talks with world leaders on the sidelines, such as the Saudi government and the leaders of international organizations.

Islamabad will have a significant chance to highlight its goals at the forum, particularly those related to inclusive growth, global health architecture, revitalizing regional engagement, and the necessity of finding a balance between fostering growth and energy consumption.

More than 700 leaders are expected to gather for "a comprehensive dialogue on leveraging global cooperation for economic development, promoting a global energy transition that underpins sustainable development, and furthering technological advancement" during the two-day event.

It is also anticipated that PM Shehbaz will meet Microsoft founder and tech titan Bill Gates.
