Social media’s reaction to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ishaq Dar’s expected return to the country as finance minister indicates that most people are worried by the prospect.
Earlier, Geo News had reported that Dar is expected to return to Pakistan next month and take charge as the finance minister.
Commenting on the news, a social media user, Shahrukh Wani, tweeted that Finance Minister Miftah Ismail is ten times better than Ishaq Dar. He further said that during his last tenure as finance minister – which saw low global oil prices – Dar not only failed to undertake meaningful economic reforms but undermined the independence of central bank.
Another user, Saad Kaiser, tweeted that Miftah is still a better option than Dar, adding that Miftah holds a doctorate degree in public finance from the Wharton School.

on his worst day, Miftah Ismail is a 10x better FM than Ishaq Dar was on his best day.
during his last tenure—which saw low global oil prices— Dar sb not only failed to undertake meaningful economic reforms but pushed PKR's value up and undermined the central bank independence.

I think Dr. Miftah Ismail is still a better option than Ishaq Dar. @MiftahIsmail holds a Ph.D in Public Finance from the Wharton School. I believe he knows what he’s doing. pic.twitter.com/lxCabDKKHc
