In a joint statement issued by PFUJ President Afzal Butt and Secretary General Arshad Ansari on Wednesday, the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, the PFUJ lamented that for over a month, Imran Riaz Khan's family, including his elderly parents, his wife, and children have been living in a world of pain.
The PFUJ officebearers wrote that a meeting would help reduce this pain, albeit momentarily, on the occasion of Eid.

The joint statement pointed to the Constitution and established traditions where the country's president and government announce special remission for those who have been sentenced or are otherwise incarcerated. The move is a routine initiative to offer some relief for the prisoners and their families.
Even for prisoners who are incarcerated for heinous crimes such as murder and armed robbery, they are allowed to meet with their families, the PFUJ statement read.
"For humanity's sake, Imran Riaz Khan should be allowed to meet with his parents, wife and children."

The PFUJ reminded authorities that Imran Riaz Khan's family was spending every moment in agony since his disappearance, and wished that the burden of their grief be lightened, and his family would also be able to celebrate the joy of Eid. The PFUJ officebearers stressed that Imran Riaz Khan's children should be allowed to meet him on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha (Thursday, June 30).
The union hoped that President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi would make such a meeting possible.
