Con artists target Gordon College professor
Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt (March 21, 2016) an Urdu professor at Rawalpindi’s Gordon College was robbed of Rs 140,000 by con artists. Unidentified men called the college’s principal posing as federal minister Ahsan Iqbal, and asked him to nominate an Urdu teacher for Chinese residents. The principal named a teacher, who was promised a house and a car, but asked to pay Rs 140,000 as down payment for the car. After the money was sent, they disappeared.
Nisar Khuhro’s Freudian slip
According to Dunya (March 22, 2016) senior minister Nisar Khuhro became so emotional (jazbati) during a speech in Sindh Assembly that he replaced the word Aaeen (constitution) with Ayan (the model facing a money laundering case) in a slip of tongue. The PPP leaders are obsessed with Ayan, according to the newspaper. She is still on the exit control list and their minds.
Fight or flight
A man and his son traveling from Doha to Islamabad began fighting with the crew of an international airline, Nawa-e-Waqt reports (March 23, 2016). He got so angry that he kicked and broke a windowpane. The plane was landed in Lahore and the two men were arrested.
Myanmar minister was Axact victim
Dunya reports (March 24, 2016) a politician nominated as a minister in Myanmar’s new cabinet revealed that he had been tricked by Pakistani company Axact into buying a doctorate degree. He will no longer call himself a doctor.
Christian student gets first-ever FATA domicile
According to Express (March 24, 2016) a Christian student from Khyber Agency became the first non-Muslim to receive a certificate of domicile in FATA. Before that, people from minority faiths were only given a certificate of residence, which was not good for jobs and university admissions on the Tribal Areas quota.

Famous cricketers Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal and Zulfiqar Babar were sent notices by the tax department for not filing their returns, Dunya reports (March 25, 2016). FBR says their lifestyle is royal (shahana) and they have hidden their income.

Reported in Jang (March 25, 2016) a man in Gujranwala has asked a court to tell the police to register a case against famous singer Shafqat Amanat Ali and cricket board officials for making an alleged mistake while reciting the national anthem before a cricket match in India. The application was accepted for hearing.
Man caught taking exam for lawmaker’s son
A man was arrested for taking the Class-9 exam in place of the son of a member of the provincial assembly, according to Nawa-e-Waqt (March 25, 2016). A court has freed him on bail.
Peshawar’s man-eating rats are not local
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the notorious ‘man-eating’ rats of Peshawar are not local, Express reports (March 26, 2016). They came from outside, the provincial assembly was told, likely in a container.
