The reason Imran Khan has leveled fresh allegations against Asif Ali Zardari is because he thinks that the PPP co-chairman wants the elections postponed.
The development came after PM Shehbaz' meeting with Fazl-ur-Rehman and the PPP leader, wherein it was decided to hold elections after the census.
So far, Asif Zardari was in the way of PTI chairman's arrest so that he is exposed on his own, but Imran's remarks have closed this door, according to Waqar Satti.
The journalist told Khabar Say Aagay host Raza Rumi that Maryam Nawaz' return will help fill a political vacuum.
This could create difficulties for the former ruling party in Punjab. "PTI chairman is once again choosing apolitical ways to deal with the issue."
Journalist Aamir Ilyas Rana said the ruling party still lacks a narrative, but if Maryam continues to speak freely, we might see a good contest between the arch-rivals in the province.
Legal expert Raza Rahman said it would be wise for the incumbent government to probe Imran Khan's allegations.
He lamented at the 'treatment of a terrorist' being meted out to Fawad Chaudhry in the sedition case.
A day earlier, the ex-premier said that the PPP co-chair and ‘powerful agencies’ were plotting to take his life, saying the former had also paid money to a terrorist organisation to ‘get the job done’.
On Friday (Jan 27), Imran said “Asif Ali Zardari is behind a Plan ‘C’ to kill me and he has given money to a terrorist organisation for the purpose.”
“The facilitators in this are the people belonging to powerful agencies [of the country],” he maintained.
He had also stated that the decision to target him had been planed ‘from three sides’, without explaining further.
“I have written out their names so that people may know. They want to get me out of the way using any means that they can,” he had claimed.
“When I earlier revealed the conspiracy hatched, during a party rally, they made a retreat from their plan.”
During his address, Imran had reiterated he would take to the streets when he is better and will not be ‘confined’ [by such threats].
