Veteran actor Behroze Sabzwari has apologized to controversial writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar over a lighthearted comment he made about the latter during an appearance on a television talk show.
Sabzwari had appeared on a local entertainment talk show called Hasna Mana Hai, alongside his colleague and brother-in-law Javed Sheikh, and was participating in the rapid fire question round where the host asked him what he thought Khalil Ur Rehman would be doing if he wasn't a writer.
Without missing a beat, Sabzwari responded "He would be getting beaten up by somebody," at which the host, the audience and Javed Sheikh all burst into laughter.
However, the comments under a clip of the segment had many people defending Qamar against the remarks made by Sabzwari.
Referring to how actor Mahira Khan said she has lost work ever since she called out Qamar for his blatant misogyny, a user wrote that Sabzwari will now not be getting any roles in Qamar’s projects. Another said that Qamar would have been the one doing the beating, and Sabzwari would have been at the receiving end.

Following the backlash, Behroze Sabzwari issued an apology to Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, saying that his intention was not to hurt him, and that he was only making a lighthearted joke. "However, if I have at all insulted your feelings, I am very sorry, I did not mean that," he said in the video, adding, "In my opinion, we don’t have a writer of quality better than him in our industry yet.”
He further said “We’re very good friends and I treasure him a lot. The stature that he holds is so high that it couldn’t be affected by the statement that I give. It was a joke, just for laughs.”
Qamar posted the video on his Twitter account saying that after watching the video of Behroze, he was requesting all TV and media channels to stop contacting him regarding this matter.
He too said they were good friends adding, "My love for him is such that he can say anything about me."
