The photograph is dated May 3, 1950, the day the prime minister arrived. He and Begum Raana were received at the airport by the Trumans. "Mrs. Truman and I, and the Americans throughout our country, have been looking forward to your arrival," the president said in his remarks. "The many Americans who have had the privilege of visiting Pakistan are unanimous in their praise of your heart-warming hospitality." They later held a dinner for them at Blair House with Foreign Secretary M. Karamullah, the first ambassador, MAH Ispahani, and his wife among other guests.
