The bail pleas of Zakir Jaffer and Ismat Adamjee, the parents of Zahir Jaffer who is the main suspect in the Noor Mukadam murder case, were rejected by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday.

In the order, the IHC also ordered the trial to be completed within eight weeks.

IHC’s Justice Aamer Farooq delivered the brief verdict. A detailed verdict will be issued later. The court also instructed the police to submit the evidence in the case to the court.
The court is now set to frame charges against the suspects, including Zakir and Asmat, on October 6

27-year-old Noor Mukadam was found murdered at a residence in Islamabad's upscale Sector F-7/4 on July 20.

A first information report (FIR) was registered the same day against Zahir Jaffer, who was arrested from the site of the murder, under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim's father, Shaukat Ali Mukadam.

Later, the scope of the investigation was broadened and four more sections of the Pakistan Penal Code were added, mainly related to abetment and concealing evidence. Police then arrested Zahir's parents, as well as the staff present at the house at the time of the murder.

The parents were remanded and sent to Adiala jail.

Meanwhile, their lawyers submitted bail applications, along with those of Zahir and their household staff, to the court. These bail applications were rejected by the sessions court, which noted that the suspects "not only caused abetment but also made utmost efforts to wipe off evidence."

Zakir had then filed a petition before the IHC against the dismissal of his post-arrest bail by the sessions court.

However, further investigations revealed that Zahir had informed his father on July 20 about the killing, and in response, the suspect's father had contacted Therapy Works. Officials had said at the time that the suspect's father asked the employees of Therapy Works to move him to their clinic and declare that he was a patient.

Counsel for Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee concluded his arguments on their bail petitions before the IHC earlier this week. The court is now set to frame charges against the suspects, including Zakir and Asmat, on October 6.
